Proud Mary decaf

It’s probably my favourite decaf, tastes as close to the real thing as I’ve tried!

one of the best decaf beans

I've tried a fair few decaf beans. Even ones bought from direct coffee. I would say the Proud Mary decaf beans are one of the best. I have a breville barista pro. my recipe is 21g, internal 4, external 8 or 9, default temp, yield is 35 to 39.

Better than most caffeinated coffees!

I first bought this decaf for my wife who was pregnant at the time and could only drink decaf. I then gave it a try and was thoroughly impressed. It's better than many normal caffeinated coffees. I'll now often find myself making a decaf as my 3rd or 4th coffee for the day on top of my normal coffee. I use a Breville burr grinder and Bialetti stove top. Also works well in a Breville Barista Express.

Tasting Notes: Caramelised fig, raw sugar, & brown spice

Process: Washed Decaf

Producer: Popayan Reserve

Variety: Caturra & Castillo

ESPRESSO: Ratio 1:2.5

Such a great decaf, this will take you on a great coffee journey and deliver a clean and vibrant cup that will leave you wanting more. No fear of missing out here, this decaf sure is one quality coffee!

The Popayan Reserve is a regional lot from the department of Cauca, Colombia. This region was chosen as it is conducive to producing coffees with good body and sweetness. Currently 67 select farms contribute to this regional lot and it provides employment for over 400 people.

This coffee is decaffeinated using ethyl acetate (derivative from sugar-cane). It selectively removes the caffeine from the coffee while leaving all the other tasty flavour compounds. Ethyl acetate occurs in ripening fruit and is a highly volatile compound meaning that none of it remains after the coffee has been roasted.
