Tsegaye Tekabo stands out as a shining example of the dynamic transformation within Ethiopian specialty coffee.
As one of the earliest members of the Jabanto Group, he has gained national recognition for his dedication and hard work. His farm marks a significant shift from traditional subsistence farming to a model of commercially scalable agriculture.
Using a garden coffee production system, his farm incorporates well-maintained agroforestry practices, with coffee plants grown under the partial shade of perennial trees. Alongside the coffee, food crops like Enset (false banana) and root crops are intercropped.
Tsegaye also serves as a valuable resource for other coffee farmers in nearby villages, providing them with improved coffee seedlings and guidance on post-harvest handling techniques.
