About The Coffee: This coffee is produced at Dusangirijambo Coop located in central Burundi in the Karuzi province. This coop was established in 2013 and is under the umbrella of COCOCA which is a union cooperative of coffee growers in Burundi.
Burundi microlots are selected out of the daylots created by various centralised washing stations, basis cup quality. Because the average farmer in Burundi owns 1/8–1/4 a hectare of land, many smallholder farmers will deliver their fresh cherry to a washing station in order to be sorted and processed; microlots, then, are blended lots comprising coffees from many producers that express exquisite coffee, but are not generally traceable to the individual producers.
t is from our friends at the 'Bella Vista' mill in Antigua, Guatemala. Processed under the watchful eye of Luis Pedro Zelaya Zamora (LPZZ) and his amazing team.
This coffee is from small producers in the southern part of Antigua. The area is known as San Juan Alotenango. The cherries are produced on the slopes of the Fuego, Acatenango and Agua Volcano.
The coffee is sourced through local intermediates(coyotes) who help purchase the cherries and assist producers in the region. The other are the relationships the mill has directly with the producers. It is estimated that there is around 700 small producers delivering their cherries to the mill each harvest.
The varieties grown there are mostly Caturra and Bourbon. And the altitude goes from 1600-2000 masl.
