Known for its consistently rich flavor along with a deep, wine-like acidity and pleasant aroma, Kenyan coffee beans have distinctly bright taste with complex tones of fruit and berry.
This lot comes from the region of Kiambu and is home to many of Kenya’s largest and oldest coffee estates. Originally owned by a French company, the Mchana Estate is now locally owned with an extensive network of processing infrastructure.
The estate provides free medical treatment and day care for all employees and their children, as well as a local school attended by many in the larger Ruiru community. As a local coffee resource, Mchana provides seedlings to local farmers from its on-site nursery, as well as livestock feed harvested from the non-coffee blocks on the property.
The impressive effort put in my the Mchana Estate to tend to the local community on top of producing exceptional coffee does not go unnoticed.
