Colombia Pink Bourbon Sugarcane Decaf Filter - Single Origin.
This high-end decaf has been specially processed to preserve as much of its original characteristics as possible. This lot is all pink bourbon; cultivated from hybridisation of red & yellow bourbon. A carefully isolated lot can preserve the unique colour & character of this variety.
The decaffeination process uses ethyl acetate derived 100% from sugarcane mixed with mountain water, together removing 99.7% of the caffeine present.
Ethyl acetate is biologically derived from the fermentation of sugarcane mixed with acetic acid. This solution is used to soak the coffee, acting as a natural solvent to extract the caffeine. The solution is then steamed away, with the evaporation point of ethyl acetate occurring at 70c.
Meticulous harvesting conditions and processing methods are very important to enhance pink bourbons’ full potential; and both the Lasso brothers and Jhoan Vergara have achieved this in expert collaboration.
This is an incredible decaffeinated coffee.
