Producer: Julio Soscue Villada
Varietal: Caturra & Colom bia
Processing: Washed
This microlot was produced by Julio Soscue Villada on his four-hectare farm near the small community of China Alta in the Ibagué region. This area has long been known for its cattle, sugarcane and trout. It’s only in the last 30–40 years that coffee has been planted here, but the area has fast gained recognition and acclaim for its sweet and complex coffees.
Julio and his family live at La Providencia farm in a house surrounded by coffee trees. They farm using traditional techniques and perform most of the farming and processing work themselves, with extra people hired during the harvest to help with cherry picking. This lot was processed at the farm’s small wet mill using the washed method, with an extended fermentation period that is typical for producers in China Alta.
The result of all this hard work and dedication is a coffee that’s clean, balanced and very sweet in the cup. We love this lot’s winey acidity and syrupy body. We hope you enjoy!
