This coffee was produced by Stephen Munene Gachuiri and his son, Peter, on their ten-hectare farm in Kirinyaga County, Central Kenya – a fertile region with the ideal conditions for producing high quality, complex coffees.
Recognising the area’s agricultural potential, Stephen established Samuga farm in the 1990s and planted it with coffee. In the years since, the father–son duo have built a small wet mill on-site, enabling them to process and dry their own coffee, rather than deliver it to a centralised washing station. This has required a significant financial investment in infrastructure, equipment and staff, and that investment has paid off – the pair are now producing exceptionally high quality lots that fetch higher prices on the specialty market.
Samuga is a classic example of a Kenyan coffee from a classic coffee-producing region. It’s beautifully sweet and juicy in the cup with notes of blackcurrant and lime. We hope you enjoy!
