It’s not often that we showcase coffees from India which is why we are particularly delighted to be presenting India Riverdale Estate. This single origin coffee is clean and fruit forward, with notes of cherry, pomegranate, and juicy raspberry.

Single Origin Filter Coffee Description

Riverdale Estate is a farm which sits at an elevation of 1450 masl in South India’s Shevaroy region. This area is burgeoning with biodiversity and wildlife which has come under threat with the overplanting of silver oak trees which are used to shade coffee crops. Fortunately, Riverdale Estate plants a variety of shade tree species to combat the problem and prevent soil erosion.

This family-owned farm was founded around 100 years ago and is managed by Prakashan Balaraman, a young farmer who is driven to be a trailblazer in specialty coffee. “We aspire to be a leader in the global coffee industry by creating an environment where innovation, quality and transparency all coexist,” he said.

Riverdale Estate produces several washed, natural, honey, and carbonic maceration coffees. Our microlot is made up of champagne naturals, which are handpicked and then triple washed before fermentation. The fruit is fermented with Italian champagne yeast and then sun dried for up to 30 days.

The resulting cup displays complex characteristics, balanced acidity, and creamy textures. It’s a supreme example of Indian coffees. We are humbled to be roasting it and we look forward to sharing it with you!
