We are excited to present a new limited edition coffee for this year’s holiday season: the Limited Edition Panama Finca Lerida Geisha. Beautifully presented in a Limited Edition tin, this coffee is a complex, sweet, and beautifully balanced cup of coffee with signature geisha’s flavours of lavender, vanilla, cherry, mango, fresh butter, nectarine, milk chocolate, and licorice.

Single Origin Filter Coffee Description

Geisha (or Gesha) coffee originates from Gori Gesha Forest in Ethiopia, before making its way to Panama in the 1960s. The coffee came to prominence in 2005 after receiving exceptionally high marks in the “Best of Panama” competition and auction.

However, the high price of Geisha is not solely because of its varietal or name, but mainly due to the difficult growing conditions required to cultivate the trees. Geisha trees are low-yielding and require high maintenance, especially when it comes to growing altitude. If the trees are grown below 1,600 masl, they become susceptible to dieback and fungus. But if they are grown above 2,100 masl, the leaves and cherries are exposed to the sun and liable to burn. Geisa trees also take longer than the average coffee tree to fruit, needing 8 years instead of the usual 4-5 years. Hence, farmers are taking huge risks when they choose to cultivate Geisha trees.

Despite these challenges, most people are still captivated by Geisha’s distinct cup profIle. The coffees are described as aromatic as smelling a precious perfume, with delicate flavours of exotic tropical fruits, depending on the origin.

For the Limited Edition, we took it upon ourselves to find the best Geisha coffee, to pay homage to its unique history and the hours of commitment poured into growing the coffee by the producer.

Our search led us to Finca Lerida in Panama. Finca Lerida is located in Boquete and is one of the oldest and most traditional coffee properties. At an altitude of 1,550 - 1,850 meters on the slopes of Volcan Baru, the surrounding land is filled with rich and fertile soil that is perfect for growing high-quality coffee. The Amaruso family manages the farm with strict picking standards and processing methods, ensuring all coffee beans meet their full potential.

The result is a complex, sweet, and beautifully balanced cup of coffee with signature geisha’s flavours of lavender, vanilla, cherry, mango, fresh butter, nectarine, milk chocolate, and licorice
