In the northwest of Peru, nestled near the border with Ecuador, lies the renowned coffee-producing region of San Jose del Alto. Despite its remote location and challenging infrastructure, this area is known for its unique and complex flavour profiles. Our latest single origin comes from Pedro Garcia’s farm in the village of San Francisco. Covering four hectares, Pedro and his family grow bourbon, tabi, and pache varietals. The result is a coffee that pleasures the palate with a coating mouthfeel, vibrant pineapple acidity, and sweet notes of grape and coconut.

Single Origin Filter Coffee Description

In the northwest of Peru, near the border with Ecuador, lies San Jose del Alto, a well known coffee-producing region in the specialty coffee world. Despite facing challenges such as its remote location, poor infrastructure, and lack of investment, this area is celebrated for its unique flavour profile, marked by pronounced floral notes and complexity.

Our coffee is cultivated by Pedro Garcia on his farm in the village of San Francisco, within the San Jose del Alto district. Covering four hectares, Pedro's farm grows bourbon, tabi, and pache coffee varietals. Together with his family, he diligently tends to the land and the trees.

Pedro is meticulous in his process. During harvest, he focuses on quality, picking only the ripe cherries. These cherries are then soaked in fermentation tanks for about 36 hours, washed, and laid out on tarps to dry for two weeks.

The coffee hits your palate with a coating mouthfeel and a pineapple acidity upfront. With sweet, complex notes of grape and coconut, this coffee produces a truly unique and memorable experience. It is the first coffee we have purchased from Peru via our friends at CofiNet, who have built strong partnerships with local producers. Their expertise in coffee processing has contributed to the exciting and delicious results we see in this cup.
