Single Origin Coffee Description
For this Good Coffee Doing Good, we've partnered with our friends at Bureaux Coffee to help raise funds for The Gitesi Project.
The Gitesi Project is a grassroots initiative that was founded in 2015 by Tim Williams (Bureaux Coffee) and Aime Gahizi (Gitesi Washing Station). The Gitesi Project places dairy cows into farming households in Rwanda and, in more recent years, the project has expanded to provide health insurance for the poorest farmers in the community.
The Gitesi Project aims to help provide better financial stability and health outcomes for coffee-farming households in this region of Rwanda: a goal we are honoured to contribute to.
Gitesi Washing Station is owned by Aime and his father Alexis Gahizi. They have strong relationships with the community surrounding the washing station, and today there are over 1,800 coffee farmers who deliver and sell coffee cherries to the station. At Gitesi, management and staff are well-trained in managing the delivery of cherry from the farmers, and have strict routines for cherry reception and sorting.
The focus on quality and consistency at the Gitesi washing station is evident in the final cup. This coffee has a wonderful profile of sweet spice, cocoa, vanilla and hazelnuts. It's warming, with a beautiful creaminess - a true delight to drink.
This coffee is endorsed by our Good Coffee Doing Good initiative. $3 from every 250g sold will go towards The Gitesi Project.
