Uraga is one of the Woredas (subcity) in the Oromia region of Ethiopia which is part of the Guji zone. Geographically the Guji region is filled with wild coffee trees and small plantations. Local farmers and small cultivators would grow coffee in their backyard which then these smallholders will combine the coffee cherries and sell to various local washing mills. It is here that the coffees are then processed to become green coffee.
Guji coffee is renowned for its consistently amazing quality, with its terroir characteristics of Red berries and Confectionery like sweetness. This coffee is processed through a so-called "Honey" method which is quite uncommon for Ethiopian coffee. The process starts off with coffees sorted and the fruit skin removed, this is done within 24 hours of coffee cherries being harvested. The remaining Mucilage (sweet-sticky fruit flesh) is then left to dry on the seeds for about 18 - 25 Days.
