Located in La Unión, Nariño, Albeiro Munoz and his wife lovingly grow coffee on their farm, Finca El Deseo. An environment blessed with cool temperatures, moderate rainfall, and rich volcanic soil, the Finca El Deseo is home to one of the many impressive natural coffees Cofinet are proudly showcasing from Colombia.

The coffee cherries on Albeiro’s farm are picked following a strict ripeness criteria before being dried with their pulp left on, then anaerobically fermented for 70 hours. The whole cherries are then pulped and gently washed before being placed on raised beds until ideal moisture content is achieved. This microlot is 100% Caturra, a natural mutation of the Red Bourbon variety that originated in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The Finca El Deseo farm favours the Caturra plants over Bourbon as they’re more resistant to plant diseases and in their environment at least, produce more coffee cherries than their counterpart.

For 80 years Cofinet has been growing and supplying local exporters with the finest Colombian coffee. In 2015 they decided to take their work global, continuing to grow coffee, providing support for other growers, and taking the lead on exporting the best crop Colombia has to offer. We’re always motivated to work with exporters who align with our values of sustainability and maintaining long-term relationships with growers. We’re proud to work with Cofinet to help them continue their positive influence on the industry.

17.5g Dose

300mL water (94 Degrees C)

Note: We have developed a filter profile for this coffee - meaning it is roasted a little lighter than would normally suit an espresso brew method. If you're using an espresso machine, high-pressure Aeropress, or prefer a darker roast for your percolator, we recommend our Single Origin Espresso Roast. However, we're more than happy to supply any of our coffees ground to any specifications - coffee is a personal journey, and we are excited to take that journey with you.
