Our latest single origin espresso comes direct from Tribu Coffee, a direct trade relationship we developed last year during lockdown. Tribu work with a number of farms and their families, including their own, to bring the highest quality and uniquely processed coffees to Melbourne and the rest of Australia. The La Rivera farm focuses exclusively on excotic coffee varietals, due to it sitting at the perfect altitude and within a high-rainfall micro climate on the slopes of the Cordillera Central, the central ranges of the Andes mountains. Tribu have been working with the family and workers at Finca La Rivera for over 80 years.

 The beans are carefully selected by hand and floated in cold water tanks between 1-8 degrees C for 8 days as part of a unique fermentation process that allows the coffee to fully potentialise its natural, rich flavour. Once the coffee has been cold fermented, it is taken to the washing station and fully washed, sun & wind dried. The farm focuses on developing distinctive techniques like cold press fermentation to enhance the quality of their product, and focuses on using all natural fertiliser to improve the surrounding environment and increase the coffee's sale value, in turn raising the personal living conditions of the community.

 As an espresso, the care and thought put into each part of the process shines through, with a creamy mouthfeel, dried fruit sweetness, chocolatey body and orange rind acidity. It tastes to us like luxury, and a reminder of why we do what we do every day.

Note: We have developed an espresso profile for this coffee - meaning it is roasted a little darker than would normally suit filter brew methods. If you're using pour over, Aeropress, batch brew, plunger or other filter brew methods we recommend our Single Origin Filter Roast. However, we're more than happy to supply any of our coffees ground to any specifications - coffee is a personal journey, and we are excited to take that journey with you.
