Rwanda Kabirizi – Washed process

It takes in cherry from the neighbouring communities of Gateko, Rwinyoni and Nganzo, and is run by COOPAC, a Fair Trade certified cooperative sitting on the steep volcanic slopes above Lake Kivu. Alongside the coffee, COOPAC puts real work into the surrounding area: processing by-product goes back out as fertiliser rather than into the lake, shade trees are handed out to farmers to hold the soil, and the cooperative has helped build a school, health clinics, roads and bridges.
