This coffee was produced by Admasu Duke on his six-hectare farm, Adamai, in Gedeb, Ethiopia. Admasu inherited the land from his parents and he’s been growing coffee there for seven years. The property’s high elevation of 2250 metres and the area’s cool climate cause a slow maturation of the coffee cherries, which means more sugar develops in the beans over time, leading to a sweet and complex cup profile.
Admasu is a participant in the Lalisaa Project, a program that offers resources and training to help coffee producers improve their growing and processing practices. Like many of the program’s participants, Admasu has seen a huge improvement in his coffee quality and yield, and he’s been able to receive higher prices for his coffee.
This lot was processed by Admasu and his team using the natural method. It delivers the intense sweetness and rich fruit flavours we look for in a natural-processed coffee while retaining its intrinsic taste of place.
