Gachatha Factory was established in 1963 and sits among the villages of Muthuaini, Thiriku, Gachenge and Kianjau, taking in cherry from smallholders who typically farm only a fraction of a hectare each.
The surrounding Aberdare Range and Mount Kenya create a cool, high-altitude microclimate, while Nyeri's fertile volcanic nitisol soils lend the coffee its juicy, wine-like acidity. This AB lot blends Batian, SL28, SL34 and Ruiru 11, separated as a day lot and graded on cup quality. The factory also invests in soak pits and waste water care to protect local water sources and indigenous plant life.
