Volcán Azul traces its roots to two pioneering farming families of the early 1800s, whose descendants — now led by Alejo Kahle Castro — grow coffee on rich volcanic soils across three Costa Rican regions, with a track record of Cup of Excellence placements. Cherries are hand-selected at peak ripeness (often 22+ brix), meticulously sorted, then dried slowly to let the sugars and nuance of this naturally processed Villa Sarchi fully develop. The farm also protects surrounding rainforest as part of its conservation-first philosophy, and the cup shows it: ripe plum and wild berries with a carob sweetness and a winey finish.
