The Caballero family are legendary in Honduras, producing exceptional coffee around Marcala in La Paz for generations. Fabio Caballero Jr, a fifth-generation producer, founded Finca La Salvaje in 2019 with his grandfather Don Fabio Caballero, winner of the 2018 Honduras Cup of Excellence. La Salvaje — “wild” in Spanish — is planted with Geisha and Java grown from the family's Cup of Excellence-winning seed, in an untamed setting rich with birdlife and native shade.
This lot was the highest-scoring coffee in the 2025 Honduras Cup of Excellence, earning 91.59 points, placing first in the Exotic category and achieving the highest auction price at USD 88.40 per pound.
