Ukuku is what we would describe as a 'regional blend,' consisting of around 50 small lots produced on 33 farms within the Jaen district of Northern Peru. Since micro-climates, varietals, and processing methods share similarities in the area, coffee is graded and blended, as is standard practice in most parts of the world, to bulk up volumes for export. Once blended, dried coffee typically homogenises over a short period, resulting in consistent moisture content with a stable cellular makeup. This process results in larger volumes of excellent coffee ready for roasting.
In our fourth year of purchasing from this outstanding group of producers in the Jaen district of Northern Peru, Ukuku represents the commitment of these farmers to deliver complex, clean, and consistent coffee. Extremely versatile, we will utilise Ukuku in over three of our product lines in 2025, ensuring a sustainable relationship between roaster and grower, where we can pay good prices to good people for years to come
