Nestled at the southernmost point of Mexico, in the remote region of Soconusco, lies Teddy Esteve’s 212-hectare estate, Chanjul. Founded in 1925, Chanjul has been a pioneer in sustainability and innovation ever since.

Chanjul dedicates 10% of its land to preserving forest areas, creating a natural buffer zone that protects the estate from nearby river systems. Additionally, the estate implements best conservation practices, including wastewater treatment, soil conservation, and integrating timber trees like walnut, mahogany, and Spanish cedar to provide shade for coffee trees. Teddy is currently undertaking his most ambitious project yet: converting Chanjul into a carbon-neutral farm. This initiative is timely, as irregular weather patterns such as untimely rains and droughts have led to challenges like pests and diseases.

When it comes to agronomy, the Chanjul team believes that exceptional coffee quality begins with a key factor: the warmth of the soil. Their soil is rich in organic materials, and with an average annual temperature of 26°C and 2,500mm of rainfall, Chanjul is perfectly positioned to produce outstanding coffee.

This particular coffee from Chanjul is full-bodied, with a velvety mouthfeel that blends seamlessly with its chocolatey and nutty flavors. We absolutely love it!
