This washed heirloom lot comes from the Banko Gotiti washing station, a co-op founded in 2012 in the village of Banko Gotiti in Gedeb, with around 300 smallholder members.
Coffee here is largely shade-grown under organic practices in the lush Yirgacheffe landscape, where each washing station lends its own character. Cherries are picked ripe and de-pulped the same day, fermented 8-12 hours in open tanks, washed in channels and dried on raised beds for up to a fortnight. The result is a classic washed Ethiopian that works equally well as filter or espresso.
